Three Major Families of Texts
Samaritan Pentateuch(SP): The Samaritan sect broke away from the Jews about 400 BCE and use only the Pentateuch.
The Septuagint(LXX) was a Greek translation of existing Hebrew texts, about 300 BCE.
The remaining Hebrew texts and some Aramaic texts were later compiled and standardized by the Masoretes. The MT is the basis of the Hebrew Bible.
