We went our separate ways today. Don spent over five hours at the Rijksmuseum looking at drawings and watercolors of artists of the Hague School in the study room of the Rijksmuseum. Elizabeth bought an all day pass for the hop on-hop off canal boats.
As in the Hague, Don had made arrangements to look at drawings and watercolors by Hague School artists in the study room of the Rijksmusuem. When he arrived there, he saw 16 portfolios of works by some of these artists.
He was not allowed to photograph any of these drawings, but he has copied some examples from his Rijkstudio at
https://www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/mijn/verzamelingen/69993--donald-kiel . Following are some examples by Johannes Bosboom, Anton Mauve, and Jan Weissenbruch.
The museum had a great display of the oils and a few watercolors by artists of the Hague School. It is difficult to select only a few, but the next galley has 3 works by Johannes Bosboom, 3 by Jacob Maris, and 3 by his brother Willem Maris.
The next galley has 3 works by Anton Mauve, 3 by Willem Roelofs and 3 by Jan Weissenbruch
You can see more of the Hague School works at the website given above, or you can read about The Hague School at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hague_School , a page which Don worked on and edited.
Tomorrow we both go to the Rijksmuseum.
