Civita di Bagnoregio

We left the agritourism for a short bus ride to Bagnoregio, where we walked to the hill town of Civita di Bagnoregio over a bridge which has replaced the old mule path between the two towns.  Only 15 people live in Civita and most of us who went met one of them, Maria.  She has a beautiful small garden with a wonderful view of the surrounding country side.  It was a fascinating place and is best described by Rick Steves in this link.

We returned by way of the bridge to Bagnoregio, where the local market was still open. Our bus then took us back the way we had come and we stopped at a piazza in a small town with a view of Civita over the valley.  Our lunch was great-3 kinds of meat, 4 cheeses, breads, lots of fruit and vegetables, and many sweets for dessert.

From here we could look back on Civita and the bridge we had used.

On to Orvieto.
