  • Isaiah 21:8a appears in the King James Version as, "And he cried, 'A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime.'" The NIV translation following the DSS reads, "And the lookout shouted, 'Day after day, my lord, I stand on the watchtower.'"
  • The two Hebrew words for lion (aryeh) and looker (haroeh) sound alike and may have been confused during dictation.
