Masoretic Text
The text primarily copied, edited and distributed by a group of Jews known as the Masoretes in the 7th-11th centuries CE. The Hebrew word "Masora" means "tradition," and the text passed down by these scribes is known as the Masoretic text and included the Torah, the Prophets and the Writings as generally used in Judaism.
It is also widely used in translations of the Hebrew Bible, commonly referred to as the Old Testament of the Protestant Bible, and in recent decades also for Roman Catholic Bibles.
