Montone

We arrived in Montone at the Locanda del Capitano, where we stayed two nights.

The town was very small and we walked around most of it in about half an hour. This was the village square.

Obviously the roads were not designed for modern cars, trucks or buses.

Part of the old city wall.

However, the views from there were spectacular.

After this walk, we were treated to a wonderful dinner prepared by Giancarlo (the capitano?) which included capella (a cap-shaped pasta) with pumpkin and amaretto. We also had wild boar and fried potatoes and the meal ended with a wonderful chocolate tart with mixed berries.

We also celebrated Ann Lockman's birthday with an Italian "candle." That is our host/chef, Giancarlo, at the left.

Tomorrow we go to Assisi.
