On Sunday. May 9, we boarded the bus after breakfast and left for Giverny. It rained a bit on the drive but the rain had stopped when we arrived. Monet's garden was spectacular in spite of the gray weather. The flowers were impressive "en masse" even though some individual flowers were past their prime.
In the pond area across the street the colors were also evident in spite of the gray day.

Many tour members also visited the nearby Museum of American Art, a collection of works by American artists of the 1880's and 1890's who were influenced by the Impressionist painters. This museum also had beautiful gardens with many iris in bloom.
