Grindelwald, First, Kleine Scheidegg and Lauterbrunnen

The morning was clear and we could see the Jungfrau from our hotel room as the sun was beginning to reach it.

So we decided to take a train from Interlaken to Grindelwald and from there walked to a cable car which took us to First at 7111 feet elevation.  Along the way and at the upper station I took many photos of peaks which I am not sure I can name.

While we were there the clouds began to come in.

The next photo is of hikers who continued walking to higher elevation in fairly deep snow.

When we returned to Grindelwald we boarded a cog railway to the town of Kleine Scheidegg.

From there we took another train to Lauterbrunnen. On the way we could see Lauterbrunnen in the valley below.

There are 72 waterfalls in this valley, but the most famous are the Staubbach Falls, which drops well  over 1000 feet, one of the highest waterfalls in Europe.

We returned to the hotel and as we sat on the balcony having a glass of wine, we saw a large number of parasailers,
who do an enterprising business here taking tourists for a ride.

Go to Day 3 in Interlaken.
