Lauterbrunnen, Murren and Kleine Scheidegg

It was cloudy this morning, but the forecast was for sunshine and clouds, so we decided to go up in the mountains again and it turned out to be perfectly clear.  We took a train to Lauterbrunnen and there we transferred to a cable car holding 100 standing people, which took us to another train station for a short train ride to Murren. Yesterday we had gone to the left to Grindelwald and First and today we went to Lauterbrunen and then to Murren.

We took a cable car from Lauterbrunnen to Murren, a difference of almost 3000 feet in elevation. This is a photo of the Stubbach falls in the ride up to Murren.

This is a look down to Lauterbrunnen from the cable.

From Murren we had beautiful view of the three largest moutains in the area, the Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau.  The Jungfrau is the one we see from our hotel.  Below is a view of the three peaks from Murren.

We took a walk in Murren and saw the mountains from different angles. THe first is of the EIger and the Monch and the second is of the Jungfrau, the same mountain we see from our hotel in Interlaken.

From Murren we took the cable car down to Lauterbrunnen and then took a train to Kleine Scheidegg. This train was a cog railway, as were most of the trains in the mountains.

From there we get a different view of the mountains. The Eiger is on the left and the Monch on the right. I walked in the snow to get this photo.

The Jungfrau was to the right and this is one photo of it.

To complete the circle, as the sun is setting this evening, the Jungfrau has acquired an alpenglow which is spectacular.

Go to Day 4 in Interlaken.
