Amsterdam

Amsterdam

We sailed through the night on the Rhine to the Rhine-Amsterdam Canal and arrived in Amsterdam in the morning.

Here our canal boat is arriving for a ride on the canals of Amsterdam.

The Westerkerk.

A shot of 7 bridges in a row.

The Lean Bridge, one of the lift bridges in Amsterdam.

After a visit of a diamond cutter, we were given the choice of either the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh Museum. This is a photo of the rear of the Rijksmuseum.

No photography is allowed, but these are available from Wikipedia. This is Rembrandt's "Nightwatch."

Rembrandt's "Jewish Bride."

Vermeer's "Little Street."

Vermeer's Milkmaid.

Vermeer's "Woman Reading a Letter."

Those who visited the Van Gogh Museum were able to see paintings such as these from the Museum website. This is one of Van Gogh's self portraits.

"The Pink Peach."

Van Gogh's "Harvest."

"Wheatfield With Crows."

"Sunflowers"

Elizabeth and I walked around after our museum vist. Here we are in a beautiful area near the Leidseplein.

The Munt (Mint) Tower

The flower market.

We continued our walk back to the ship through the busy shopping area of Kalverstraat

Just off the busy shopping area is the quiet of The Begijnhof, an enclosed courtyard in Amsterdam dating from the early 14th century.
