Amboise

Our next stop was at the town of Amboise. After getting settled in our rooms, Patrick took us for a short walking tour of the center of town.

This is a view of the Amboise Chateau. Our hotel was just to the right of this picture.

Amboise was to be our home base for visits to the chateaus at Chenonceau and Chambord. Most of us visited Clos Lucé, Leonardo da Vinci's home in Amboise for the last four years of his life.

It was interesting to see the rooms of the house. In some of the lower rooms there many models of da Vinci's inventions. These are some models of guns he designed.

This is a model of his version of an assault vehicle, a precursor of our tank.

Photos scanned from Clos Lucé brochure.

Clos Lucé is in a park where many life size models of da Vinci's inventions are available for children to play with.

While in Amboise, Sam, Joyce, Daniel and Rita drove to the chateau and gardens at Villandry.

Continue to the Chenonceau Château in the Loire Valley.
